- Disc Brake
-
- The disc brake is a
- flat disc. On each
- side are brake pads
- held in a caliper.
- When the brakes are
- applied, the pads
- press against the
- disc to create
- friction and slow
- down the vehicle.
- A lot of heat is
- generated, which
- can cause the
- brakes to fade, or
- even cease to
- function, and so
- many cars today
- have ventilated
- disc brakes.
- Ventilated discs
- have air passages
- in them to help
- dissipate heat more
- efficiently.
